Join us in a special holiday episode this week, as we had the privilege of interviewing a special guest of the Alpha Phi Alpha fraternity. We learn about his upbringing, why he joined the Alphas, as well as his mentorship to a risk youth group through the Alpha Phi Alpha Boys Institute. We also show respect to the youth programs the Sigmas and Kappas are upholding in their communities.

The other thing that is hugely imoortant in this episode is where you all touched on having respect for the trades. Our country is facing a dramatic shortage of young tradespeople. I grew with family members who were tradespeople, and I consider myself a skilled tradesman in telecommunications and computing. That is a much damn bigger deal than this episode lets on. That deserves some deep talk as well.

I especially like the part about taking time with grandparents and going to family functions so you know your family. My Mom & Dad split when I was two. I missed out on a lot from my Dad's side, and the few times I got to spend with that side of my family are like treasures. Mom was adopted, and her parents were Italian immigrants, so the whole family thing on that side didn't even exist except Noni & Nono. I got to spend a lot of time with them. Knowing your extended family is a huge hole in our culture as jobs force cross-country migration on people, too. We could probably do an episode on that issue alone going into the holidays. Good subject to address.
